Better Messages has been a very useful plugin for our WooCommerce/Dokan marketplace. We use it for buyer-to-seller communication, and the WebSocket version makes the experience feel smooth and real-time. It is a practical and affordable alternative to external chat platforms, while still offering the main features we need: private conversations, notifications, and an internal inbox. One improvement that would help us a lot would be easier control over frontend notification prompts and translation strings, especially for browser push notifications. Overall, it is a strong plugin and a great choice for marketplaces that need internal messaging without building a custom chat system from scratch.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Easy integration with BuddyPress for a native chat experience. I did have a few issues, but the developer was extremely quick to respond and point me in the right direction. Creating native mobile apps is built in and easy. The development versions work flawlessly out of the box. Although it is a steep learning curve to deal with Google and Apple to get the apps published in the stores. This is a great value for what the app provides.

Better Messages is the best instant message and onsite communication system that I have found. And it integrates perfectly, and seamlessly, with social community platforms like Peepso. Also, Better Messages' documentation and support is first class. For example, Andrij responded to my support request within minutes, and he solved my configuration issue (which was specific to my server) immediately. The system is excellent. Highly recommended.

Better Messages has all the most modern functions I was looking for in an instant message system. Its logic is well thought through, and its many functions can be applied without slowing page loads nor increasing CPU/Memory to any significant degree.

It is especially coded to integrate with Peepso social community software.

Better Messages support, documentation, guidance, and trial before purchasing options are all 5-star excellent.

On initial installation (during the trial period) I had a timeout issue (caused by my server configuration) and Andrij came to my support within minutes. He adjusted code in Better Messages, and all functions came alive. He gave me guidance on what I needed to do too.

I sincerely recommend the Better Messages plugin (and the company’s service) to anyone wishing to have a professionally-coded A-Class instant messaging system on their site or platform.

Better Messages is the best message plugin. Everything is responsive, doesn’t burden page load time, has message reactions, precise message search to specific text, user group chats, automatic purge option of old messages, and many more features. Documentation is excellent, has many quality filter hooks, and allows custom file extensions for upload such as GPX. I inquired about a specific user block feature in PeepSo that is entirely separate from Better Messages and within a day saw it included in Better Messages! Andrij is very kind, responsive, and continues to bring impressive innovations to Better Messages. Many great integrations, collaborations, and giving us the tools to foster our communities. I am very thankful for this – it is a gift to the world. 🙂

I looked for quote some time and ran across Better Messages. I couldn't install it fast enough. My members love it. It's a lot like what you'd find on Facebook and Instagram. This really makes my site look and feel like the social media platforms that made it harder for us websites to thrive in today's world. No longer do I have people saying " do you have telegram so we can chat " in the old fashion threaded message posts. It integrated very well with Ultimate Members as it does other member plugins. The Winsock version is worth every penny too! Very affordable for even the smallest website. I can't be any happier with this. I look forward to the future with this.

I have a BuddyBoss website and app that uses BetterMessages. BetterMessages works seamlessly with BuddyBoss to enhance the messaging experience for our users. There are many incredible features that work exactly as advertised. I had a unique use case where the push notifications were delayed by a few seconds because of the BuddyBoss plugin, but I reached out to BetterMessages support and they were very helpful. They worked hard to fully understand what was going on and added a small feature that immediately solved the problem.

I've been wanting to build a community around my LMS. After a lot of research on messaging apps and reading reviews, I very recently settled on the Better Messages WebSocket version with the BuddyBoss Platform. I'm still playing around with settings, but it looks great. It's superfast and integrates nicely with BuddyBoss. It's fully customizable, plus there is a supportive Facebook group should any issues arise. So far, so good!

I was both surprised and impressed by such fast responses from the developer of the plugin as well as the fast resolution to the issue that I was facing with the plugin.

This is such a great plugin that will take your community website to the next level, with outstanding customer service too!!!

THE Messaging plugin your users want AND deserve.

Absolutely fantastic. Better Messages does just as promised, it enhances your websites communication to a whole new level – it works flawlessly, is stunning to look at and a joy to use. If you do stumble upon an issue, which is very rare, the developer support is fantastic.

If I could rate this higher I would. I will be buying a licence for every site I need Advanced, Feature rich and seamless messaging functionality on. Better Messages is now my go to solution. If you’re hesitating- just try it, it’s cheap but POWERFUL.

The plugin works behond expectation and it is automatically compatible with most of the plugins i tested with. Every issue was responded sometimes in minutes….one update was made immediately i reported small insignificant issue. Super Worth to pay the premium version.

This is the best messaging plugin on WordPress, with very reasonable pricing. Would strongly recommend Better Messages to any platform looking to improve the experience for its users. Support and customizations are exceptional, and the developer will help you make the plugin just right for your business / website.

This is an amazing plugin, and I would love (!) to use it on several of my BuddyBoss websites. But, since messages are not deleted when the user account is deleted, and messages are still visible to those who received the messages, it’s not GDPR compliant, meaning, in the EU it’s against the law and cause big legal problems. This is a big shame, because it’s really the best plugin out there.

I hope the plugin will get updated with this functionality. Thank you for all the great work.

In general plugin is useful and quite nice.

Unfortunately, I have some comments about the support which is very helpful, active and supportive before you buy the plugin or when you are a new customer.

However, once you are their customer, the attitude change and they aren’t so supportive anymore. I even got the impression that they were tired of asking questions and reluctant which unfortunately spoiled my first impression.

I was looking for a messenger that I could integrate to my website so users could chat. After plenty of research I stumbled across this plugin, I tried the free version and it was pretty solid. I switched to premium after some time to have all the bonuses, but that is optional in case you want better performance and more features.

The developer is also very responsive and is always there to support my inquires.

Overall a very good experience with this plugin.

I have a website with much activity and every time I try something new there are displeased remarks from some users. But this message system is so much better than the native buddypress pm system that literally everyone loved it immediately.

My site has many specific features which make new plugins difficult to integrate but this plugin is one of the easiest to deal with. It has almost everything I need, and some helpful hooks to work with as well.

The support is fantastic, very helpful and polite.

This plugin is almost daily updated due to bugfixes. I have nothing against constant improvements of the plugin (or supposed ones), but if users are expected to deal with constant bugs (and these are apparently simply accepted by the developers), then this is unacceptable. Although many of the bugs do not have a direct impact on usability, they do quite often affect it, sometimes significantly.

It’s not only a huge waste of time figuring out why something isn’t working properly, but it also interferes with my work. Otherwise, this would be a good plugin that I would have preferred over the alternatives.

Smooth, beautiful and fully functional! This really takes my site to a new level. Love all the features and the load is pretty light. If you don’t need to load everything in every page, simply combine this with “assets clean up” and you are good to go. Thanks a lot for such a great plug in!

This chat does everything you can do with discord, which makes it the most modern chat plugin for Wordpress right now. You can edit mistakes, reply directly to users, and place emoji on text lines, pics, or videos. Also, most reasonably sized videos are workable and play within chat with just one click. The dev works with you and responds quickly.

app update brought several features which makes it the ultimate messenger for ultimate member. We have the presence of a notification icon so as not to miss a message. We have a pop window when we click on private message on a member's profile card, extremely useful and ergonomic on a mobile display. Customizing the application to the color of the site is simple and practical. I recommend this app to anyone who uses ultimate member or similar member app. Thanks to Andrij for this wonderful application and his listening to requests and incidents

This plugin worked for me for 5 months and there were no problems, and if there were, the developer promptly solved the problems, but now as I understand the plugin has fallen into the hands of other people and it is immediately felt. I have written to support several times and the only answer was a contemptuous silence. But, today a serious problem arose. I needed to reinstall the plugin, but when I activated the plugin started to cause – Internal Server Error. I tried to activate plugin with different themes, disabled all plugins, even rebooted the server, but the result is the same. Wrote on the forum – silence. Wrote to support – silence, wrote to the post – silence. That’s how good things turn into rubbish in the wrong hands.

Problem solved, I certainly couldn’t have done it alone. I can only wish the plugin developer one thing – don’t stop and keep going.

The plugin name of Better Messages is literal and true! This is a better way to message, and the features that come with the software are strong. I like the speed, the visual interface, and the overall performance of the plugin. I hope to be a user for a long time and check out the premium offerings as well. Thank you!

The developer provides exceptional support, and in record time!

Also, during this time, the number of features offered by the plugin has increased in a significant manner.

I looked at a lot of plugins and tried plugins recommended by reviewers but they were hard to install and did not look good. Better Messages has every thing you could ever wish for, tons of customization and support that you would go a long way to find in business generally. I went on to their demo site to test the audio plugin, it not only works but it is manned by agents. That's pretty cool! A great addition to my site.

I needed a chat plugin for BuddyPress, and there is a myriad of plugins to choose from. So I looked at some review sites and chose from there. The plugins were a nightmare. Then I just happened to see this one and I thought, things cant be worse than this. It has everything. Tons of customization. What I particularly like is that if something is not working in reality its 5 minutes to change the setting. I loved the demo site and it’s actually manned by an agent. That was kind of cool. The support has been second to none. I would definitely recommend this plugin.

Loved the plugin but I can’t use it, which is a real shame. Reason, there is a conflict that stops paging working for the wp File Download plugin. As I need Wp file download, I had to uninstall better messages. Keep hoping for a fix on subsequent releases but not yet.

The functionality/function of this plugin is the best I've ever seen for a chat plugin, and the websocket version is totally worth it! You get a lot with the free version, but the websocket makes all the difference. I would personally prefer a little different design of it, and most of it is simple to style and change with a little bit of CSS knowledge. Those details that isn't possible with CSS, it would be awesome to have an option in the backend settings. But overall - easy 5 stars.

I could not praise BP Better Messages (Premium) and its team more highly. I’ve had the premium version for a year now with the voice message addon once it became available. The plug in works great, there are many features, the price is right, and the team is stellar.

The Plugin works perfect, its delievers all functions a messenger should and even more, from gif to video group call (still in beta but works fine) the costumer support is awesome, normaly he replied on problems within an hour and even late at the evening he was fixing problems for me. i cant say anything bad. i love it and my costumer love it… cant wait to see the app

Recently had an issue trying to resolve a technical issue with this plugin (Better Messages).

The customer support contact would not or could not speak in complete sentences.

He expected me to be a WordPress expert which I am not but I am certainly not a beginner either.

He relied on one screenshot to answer my questions…the SAME (one) screenshot.

It was like he could not think but could only provide a scripted reply.

Because of their lack of true customer support I cannot recommend purchase of this software!

If it were possible, I’d rate them zero stars.

I have checked the universe of plugins for years and there is simply nothing that does what this plugin does for your wordpress site, instant private chat and chat rooms for all the users that ALSO ties in seamlessly with the native messaging system. Game changer for a buddypress site!

In the past, I only was able to find solutions that offer chat, but were very confusing for the community because it was completely separate from the native messaging system.

The other thing that sets this plugin apart is the developer. I’ve been using wordpress for a community site for well over a decade and I have never worked with a developer as responsive and helpful as Andrij and that makes a huge difference with a plugin that controls the most IMPORTANT part of a community site.

BTW, I use the websocket version. HIGHLY recommended.

So I wanted to make a few customisations, contact support a quick reply with some changes I could try to get what I wanted. It partially did what I wanted but not fully, I was happy with the results though.

After saying thank you for the help and explaining what didn’t work, within a few minutes a reply with another solution. This solved what I wanted.

So I have my site how I wanted all quickly and simply

I wanted to make a couple of changes to how it appeared on my site, I got a reply quickly and the reply was helpful, I couldn't get all the changes to work, contacted them again and another option was given that worked. This was quick and simple to do, and I got the changes working exactly how I wanted them to work.

If I could leave 6 stars then I would!! This is by far the best messaging plugin I have found and I was so disappointed when it seemed to conflict with my theme, but within a matter of hours Andrij fixed the problem and had it all up and running for me. Thank you Andrij, you are an absolute star and I look forward to purchasing more plugins from you in the future!!

Better Messages is an excellent Messaging Wordpress Plugin. I love that it uses Web Sockets for video messaging and groups. The plugin developer is super responsive and has diligently assisted in helping with making Better Messages compatible with another developer's app which had nothing to do with any Better Messages issue. All in all I am very happy with both the program and support. These days good support is difficult to come by. Well Done Better Messages! Brian

I made a wordpress.org account for the sole reason of leaving a review. That’s just how amazing this plugin has been! Not to mention that support goes above and beyond!! I would highly recommend this to anybody needing a messaging solution for BuddyPress. Also, would highly recommend the upgraded web socket version. It is significantly faster (not to say that it was slow before) and the perks are great!

I needed a more sophisticated and clean looking community messaging system than my community site allowed. I found the BP Better Messages plugin and it vastly improved the messaging and chatting options my members have on the site. The tech support was great and the staff went over and beyond the call of duty to help customize the chatbox to match my site. I greatly appreciate all the help that was provided and the app is amazing!

This is a great plugin, a lot of very cool features and the developers are consistently coming up with updates and new features, and the customer support is the BEST! They are very kind and come up with solutions for whatever you need very quickly. I would highly recommend this plugin!

Gee thanks for the ultimate and affordable solution for the issue facing any developer: What is the best choice today for a secure video chat capable messenger to add to my buddy press install, and have it work within 10 minutes? BP Better Messages Plugin, my friends. Tis the answer to your woes. I paid $200. a month recently with a so-called competitor, for the same basic service, and I chose BP Better Messages over that other service. The proof is in my choice and confidence in this well-designed tech.

Having my own chat/call/video-call app on my site is just awesome. Highly recommended.

One thing missing, but on the roadmap as per Andrij is the possibility to start a call/video-call without first having a text message conversation.

Excellent messaging app aside, this is the absolute best customer service I have ever experienced from a plugin author. Seriously. He went beyond the call of duty for me when I asked about the possibility of changing the color of the chat box tab and again when I ran into trouble with configuring some of the settings. I am so impressed. We just got the video/audio chat feature up and running and it’s so much fun. An excellent addition to our site. First class all the way - both the product and the service behind the product.

An all honesty, I originally downloaded this plugin without much hope that it would do what I wanted. Turns it does everything I need perfectly well and more.

I reached out for some help with a question which was responded to within 1 hour, since then we have gone back and forth for more help and advice on how to best use the plugin in my particular processes.

This is the first ever review I have left after using hundreds of WP themes and plugins, but felt it deserved recognition after the great experience I have had so far.

I had a few issues with the mobile CSS and the translation to my native language and they helped me very fast and in the most supportive and professional way. Every Buddypress developer should install the plugin for the top notch support and also for the better design of the messages compared to the standard one of Buddypress.

The product is surprisingly good for its price. Worked out of the box and it was very intuitive to set up. There is nothing similar that can work as a substitutive in the WordPress world, as far as I've seen. The team is super responsive, they've been supporting on every step of the way and they take feedback seriously - to the extent that some feedback materialised in a plugin update within days. Thanks for all your hard work

After trying out a few other chat plugins for buddypress, I can confidently say that this one is the best ! The (backward) compatibility with buddypress native message system is especially appreciated. I have also purchased the premium version (starting at less than 10 USD/month… a steal !) and love the video call feature ! Great great job ! As for support, I have ran into a couple of issues and the plugin team has replied with minutes of submitting a request. They have also gone out of their way to hop on a call and help me solve my issue.

I can’t recommend them enough ! Keep up the good work on this plugin !

The plugin works incredibly well! And the support I received when I had both a question and an issue was superb and even went above and beyond. Honestly some of the best support I’ve ever received online. I is also the first plugin I’ve purchased the pro version of, and I did NOT regret it.

This is by far the most user friendly message system available.

I use it without Buddypress as a message system only, works great.

It’s initial look and styles makes it ready to go as is with no code editing at all required.

For those like me that want to add and change styles, I can add my own CSS to my child theme to further style the message system.

I can’t comment on support as I have not needed it as it is an install and go plugin. However I have added some feature requests on the forum they have on their website.

Keep up the great work, I can see this being useful in many different ways.

If you are building a social network and want to include many of the major features of sites like Facebook - which social network users simply expect - then you simply need the mini-chat websocket implementation of BP Better Messages. Despite frequent checking for new messages and all that goes on behind the scenes, the impact on load time and performance has been minimal.

It does exactly what it says and it uses your themes CSS to style it unlike many other free options. Also, it is designed to work ith BuddyPress, unlike others. I am 100% convinced through lots of personal experience (been using this since it came out) that this is the best maintained, most coherent, and most intuitive message plugin out there, even over some $30 dollar ones.

The default messaging system of BuddyPress is old fashioned, too formal and simply boring. Better messages brings in a modern, dynamical style and improves the way our users could communicate. Knowing this plugin author from another plugin, I can 100% recommend him as highly responsive and solution-oriented. Thanks!

the first time i used this plugin, it was not actually interesting due to its multiple bugs. Now i’m realizing a great improvement. Congratulations!! keep going. I recommend it to every user running a community site.
