Your licence
From Better Messages 3.1, the licence of the WebSocket version is kept by WordPlus Cloud, which also delivers its updates. Your account is at www.wordplus.cloud, where you sign in with the email you bought with.
Updating from an earlier version#
Nothing to do. On the first page load after the update, your licence moves over by itself, with the same key, and realtime messaging, calls, push notifications and your mobile apps keep working. The Licence page says "Moved over from the licence this site had before, with the same key."
Entering a key#
- In WordPress, open Better Messages → Licence.
- Paste the key from your purchase email or your WordPlus account, and press Activate.
The page then shows the licence's status, how many of its sites are used, and the sites using it. The key itself is never shown in full.
Moving the licence to another domain#
- From the old site, if it still runs: Better Messages → Licence → Deactivate on this site, then enter the key on the new site.
- If the old site is gone: in your account at WordPlus Cloud, open Sites, find the old domain and press Deactivate. The key then works on the new site.
Staging and local copies of a site (such as staging., .local or .test addresses) don't use one of the licence's sites.
WordPress networks#
When Better Messages is network-activated, the licence belongs to the network. Only a network administrator can enter, change or deactivate it, in the network admin. A subdirectory network uses one site of the licence. On a subdomain network, each site with its own address uses one.
The Voice and Video Messages add-on#
The add-on has a licence of its own, separate from Better Messages. From version 2.1 its licence also moves over by itself after the update. To enter or change its key, use the Activate Licence link in the add-on's row under Plugins. While its licence is not active, voice and video messages are off, and the Voice Messages settings say so with a link to that page.
And Freemius?#
From 3.1, Better Messages no longer loads the Freemius SDK. Its Account and Contact Us pages in WordPress give way to the Licence, Upgrade and Support pages of Better Messages.
- You do not need the Freemius customer dashboard for Better Messages. Licences, sites, downloads, subscriptions and invoices are in your WordPlus Cloud account, with the same email.
- A licence bought through Freemius keeps renewing there, at the same price, and Freemius still handles its invoices and refunds, so your card statement and receipts name it. New purchases are made at WordPlus Cloud, sold by our reseller Paddle, the merchant of record: checkout, sales tax, invoices and refunds.
- Usage data: a site that shared it through the Freemius opt-in stays opted in, and the data goes to WordPlus Cloud instead. While a licence of the WebSocket version is active, the site shares its address, its versions and the features and settings in use, as the terms of WordPlus Cloud say.
